Funnel Review
Make It Rain: Transform Your Copywriting with an Effective Sales Page
Every so often you come across a sales page that does the basics perfectly with minimum of fuss and bother, and Chris Orzechowski’s sales page for his flagship “Make it Rain” newsletter does exactly just that.
While other pages desperately try to be cute and clever, Chris sticks to the tried and tested basics of having a solid hero section which captures attention (and more importantly, keeps it..), a logical flow that leads the prospect from there to the CTA, all the while using color and graphical elements to ensure the copy is the star of the show, NOT the design (which is an uncommon sight, let me tell you…)
Hero Section Ratings
Hero Section – Headline/Hook: 10/10 – The headline is exceptionally compelling and , clearly articulating the main benefit of the Make It Rain newsletter and grabbing attention immediately.
Hero Section – Subheadline: 10/10 – The subheadline expands on the main benefit and effectively identifies the target audience, making it relatable to aspiring and established copywriters alike.
Hero Section – Call to Action (CTA): 9/10 – The call to action is prominently displayed and visually appealing, encouraging immediate action from visitors.
Hero Section – Social Proof: 9/10 – Powerful income related testimonial from a subscriber, loses 1 mark for it being below the fold slightly, but I’m nit picking here..
Hero Section – Compelling Image or Video: 10/10 – Simple visual of the Make it Rain program in the hero lets me know whats on offer
Design and Usability Ratings
No Links/Focus/Flow: 10/10 – The page maintains a strong focus with minimal distracting links, ensuring that visitors remain engaged with the main offer. The content flows logically from the hero section to the CTA.
Colour: 10/10 – The color scheme is well-executed and simple, effectively guiding the viewer’s attention without overwhelming them. Sticks to a few basic colours and understands colour is there to enhance the copy and NOT steal the show.
Not Over Designed: 9/10 – The design is clean and straightforward, ensuring that the message remains clear without unnecessary distractions.
Proportionality: 10/10 – The page demonstrates excellent proportionality, with consistent font sizes and spacing that contribute to a polished, crisp, clean look.
Mobile Optimization: 10/10 – The page is fully optimized for mobile devices, providing a seamless experience for users on various platforms.
Performance Ratings
Load Time: 5.45 seconds – The only black mark on an otherwise flawless page – load time is a bit slow for my liking, could be improved by optimising the rather large images.
Conclusion
What a well designed sales page looks like. Gets the hero section correct from the jump with all the needed ingredients to get attention and then keep it, the designer understands the importance of proportional margins, spacings and widths (to give that crisp, clean “professional” look), colour is used appropriately, design is kept simple and design touches are used sparingly only to be used to further the primary goal – which is conversions.
All credit to the designer who understands “direct response” design at a deep intuitive level.
